A never to be forgotten day

Centenary gifts

A never to be forgotten day, by Alan Duckworth, is a specially commissioned book that was launched on our anniversary day, May 27, 2008 and costs just £1.99.

It tells the story of books and libraries in Darwen. It tells Darwen’s story from its early days as a riverside settlement to its boom town time in the Industrial Revolution. It tells the story of an evolution: from the days of the chained book to the computer age.

We also have a set of commemorative postcards available to buy at £1 for a set of three.   These would complement the new book and provide a lasting memento of the occasion.
