Noise pollution

The pollution control team aims to control the production of noise into the environment. Noise or unwanted sound can cause annoyance, stress and, in extreme circumstances, sleep deprivation. Suffering excessive noise can affect a person’s quality of life.  The council can investigate noise complaints and take action, if the noise is considered to be a statutory nuisance.

Noise problems we can deal with:

The council has a duty to investigate the following complaints.    

• Loud music (commercial or domestic)
  
  
• Barking dogs
  
  
• Industrial/Commercial noise
  
  
• DIY at unsociable hours
  
  
• Intruder alarms (domestic or vehicle)
  
  
• Noise from motorsports (scrambling)
