Temporary road closure

 A section of Whalley New Road has been temporarily closed following the collapse of a Mill Roof.

A substantial section of the roof of Carr Cottage Mill, which forms part of the Florence Mill complex, collapsed over the weekend.

In view of the potential risk of a knock-on collapse of the front wall onto Whalley New Road, safety fencing has been put up.

As a result, half the carriageway in the affected area is now closed and temporary traffic lights have been set-up.

The building’s managing agents will be carrying out the necessary emergency works to remove the potential danger.

The works will require careful planning but Whalley New Road will be returned to full use as soon as possible.
