Services to ethnic communities
Our services to ethnic communities include fiction and non-fiction books, newspapers, DVDs, videos and music. We also hold meetings where you can learn English or join the Friends' reading forum.
Audio visual services are based mainly at Blackburn Central Library in the media area on the ground floor. We also have a substantial collection at Darwen library with smaller selections at our community libraries.
Services for those with special needs
We have a range of services for those with a visual impairment or hearing impairment, and for those unable to get into their local library, we provide a housebound service.
We keep a range of daily, weekly and monthly periodicals on a wide range of subjects and interests. You can also access most of the major national daily newspapers and the local evening newspapers.
Blackburn with Darwen library and information service in collaboration with Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust are working with local doctors and mental health professionals to offer this scheme to those who want to use books to help themselves.
