Community transport 12 month pilot

The Council, in partnership with Northgate Kendrick Ash, existing transport service providers and service users, is carrying out a 12 month pilot exercise to develop a strategy which will deliver improvements for both current users and potential users of the service.

The pilot will look at how many people use the service at the moment, where they travel to and from, how accessible and efficient the service is and how the number of passenger journeys available for users of the service could be increased.

As part of the pilot, a £1 fare for each journey made under the scheme has been introduced from Monday, May 4. It means a return journey will cost £2.

The fare has been introduced to bring the service in line with the council’s charging  policy for subsidised transport as provided by adult social services.

From Monday, November 2, the new telephone number for community transport is (01254) 588190.

If you have already booked journeys for week commencing Monday November 2 with Dial A Ride and Community Wheels, you do not need to call again.

Hotline is open Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm and Saturday 9am – noon.
