The Children and young people’s partnership was formed when we considered our responsibilities, identified by the Every Child Matters agenda and it quickly became obvious that the achievement of the prescribed outcomes for all our children required greater resources than were represented by Children’s Services alone. It therefore seemed obvious that a partnership be gathered together with the capacity and shared commitment which could deliver an aspirational vision. In April 2008 we formally became the Children and young people’s trust.
Refreshed and reinvigorated by our success identified in our recent Joint area review and with a renewed Children & young people’s plan for the coming four years, the trust looks forward with confidence to facing the continuing challenges ahead and helping deliver the outcomes which will enrich and benefit the lives of the community which is Blackburn with Darwen.
In these times of economic difficulties we must be even more determined to concern ourselves with the needs of our children, young people and their families and remain resolute and confident that our trust is built on sound foundations.
