5 Ways to Wellbeing

Welcome to Blackburn with Darwen’s 5 Ways to Wellbeing campaign.

This campaign is designed to encourage you to take up something new, or do more of something you already do, because it feels good and it has a positive effect on your mood.

And we all need a bit of that, right? Covid has been really tough and it has stopped us from doing lots of things we enjoy and would normally do.

So we want to encourage you to explore all the opportunities in our borough that can positively impact your wellbeing.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing is a proven, simple set of actions and we are using it to frame the opportunities available. So, each week, the campaign will focus on one of the 5 ways:

  • Week 1 17th – 23rd May: Take Notice
  • Week 2 24th – 30 May: Keep Learning
  • Week 3 31st May – 6th June: Be Active
  • Week 4 7th – 13th June: Help Others
  • Week 5 14th – 20th June: Connect

We have pulled together a timetable of activities happening across the borough, delivered by a range of partners, with the hope that you will be inspired to join in. We hope there is something for everyone and you can find an activity that suits you.

How to get involved

Find the activities in the timetable below that you would like to attend, either online or in person, follow the link to the host organisation’s booking process and sign up!

Doing just one of these activities will boost your wellbeing but doing one or more activity from each week is a guaranteed way to feel the maximum benefits of this campaign.

Keep track of your activities here (coming soon).

How to follow us online

The campaign will visible on social media and on Twitter we will be using #5waysbwd. So please search for us, tag us in any events you attend and share our posts.

Running a Covid-safe campaign

The campaign dates fit nicely with the easing of lockdown restrictions but, while some sessions will be indoors, we have been keen to find as many sessions as possible outdoors, so we can all get the additional benefits and are less restricted on numbers.

We have asked all organisations running activities to take the need for social distancing seriously and to make sure that all Covid safety precautions are met.

In order to ensure numbers are manageable and safe we will be asking you to book on sessions via the organisation’s usual booking methods where possible.

If there are any changes to restrictions, nationally or locally, we will take the appropriate action to ensure the safety of our communities and cancel/postpone the event.
