Service information

The Coroner’s Service receives reports of deaths, makes enquiries on behalf of the Coroner and liaises with relatives and potential witnesses.

Coroners also deal with finds that may be classed as treasure.

Her Majesty’s Coroner, Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen holds office under the Crown and is an independent judicial officer. Coroners are members of the judiciary and are funded but not employed by the Council.

The H M Senior Coroner for Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen is Dr James Adeley.

Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm

Friday 9am to 3.30pm
