The European passport return service is provided by local authorities or nominated premium service centres. The service is only for those making their application online at gov.uk for either of the following:
EEA (QP) : Application for a registration certificate as a European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss national who is in the UK as a qualified person.
EEA (PR) : Application for a document certifying permanent residence or permanent residence card under the EEA Regulations.
This service will be available from 1 October 2016 and is provided in partnership with the Home office.
We will photocopy your EEA or Swiss passport and forward a copy along with your document checklist, application form and supporting documents to the Home Office on your behalf. This means that you are able to keep your passport while your application is being processed.
The service is available by appointment only contact us and you must attend your appointment within five working days of submitting your online application form. The fee for the service is detailed on the Registrar’s fees page
Using the European passport Return Service does not guarantee the success of your application and we cannot provide any advice on your application.
The service will not check that your form has been correctly completed and or that the correct supporting documents have been submitted.

To use this service you must:
- Hold a current EEA / Swiss passport
- Have completed an online application to the Home Office for a Permanent Residence Card / Registration Card.
- Be applying as an individual not a family or couple.
- Be able to attend an appointment within five working days of making your online application.
