Blackburn with Darwen has embarked on an agenda for growth which includes developing new house types to meet local aspirations which will improve opportunities and quality of life for residents. 

To support this agenda the Council will be offering a number of freehold housing development opportunities via tender over the next few Months.

Blackburn has recently seen extensive private and public sector investment,  new developments such as Cathedral Square and is well connected to adjacent areas:

Land at Tower Road, Blackburn informal tender - Under offer

The total site comprising c. 1.25 hectares / 3.09 acres is located in a desirable suburban location adjacent to existing residential developments, adjoining spectacular Witton Country Park and overlooks land designated as Green Belt. The development has fantastic transport links and is well served by local schools, shops and leisure facilities.

Queen's Park Sites, Blackburn

The Queens Park development opportunity comprises of 3 land parcels of around 3.1 hectares in total. The sites are adjacent to the Queens Park which is an historic Victorian listed park offering valuable recreational and play facilities.

The M65 motorway is close to the site with direct links to the M6, M61 and M66 motorways.

The site fronts onto Ramsgreave Drive which links to J6 of the M65 motorway to the east and J31 of the M6 to the west.

Alaska Street Site, Blackburn - Under offer

This site of around 1.7 hectares is located in a popular housing area close to the town centre.  The site is easily accessible by all forms of transport and the local train station is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the site. The A6077 (Haslingden Road) is a primary road corridor, which leads to Blackburn Town Centre and its public transport interchange.

The site also has good access to J5 and J6 of the M65 motorway.

Significant investment over the years has helped transform the immediate area, which has benefitted from two major developments by David Wilson Homes and Places for People.
