Recycling: textiles and electrical items collection

Service information

From 9th January 2017 we will collect and recycle your unwanted electrical items, clothes, shoes and textiles.

All you need to do is:

  • Put your clean, dry items in a carrier bag (no black bags or charity sacks please).
  • Put your bag on the ground next to your grey recycling bin, on your grey recycling bin collection day. The recycling crew will remove it for you, including the carrier bag.

We can’t collect items larger than 35cm x 40cm as they won’t fit into the storage cages on our collections vehicles. You can take larger items to the Household waste recycling centres or book a bulky waste collection.

By putting these items in a carrier bag it not only contains them in a neat and tidy manner and prevents textiles getting wet, but also enables you to manage and determine the size of the items that can be collected. If it doesn’t fi t into the carrier bag it is too big and won’t be collected.

Please leave your items at the side of your bin rather than the top as they could be knocked by passers by or blown off in the wind.

Please only put bags out on your grey bin collection weeks.

Space is limited on the collection vehicles so please try to put items out as they become unwanted rather than storing them until you have several items.
