To apply to renew your driver’s licence, you need to have a personal account set up in your own name on our Digital Customer Portal.
If you don’t already have one, you can watch a tutorial on how to create an account.
Your application will not be processed if:
- It is not complete
- You use someone else’s Blackburn with Darwen account to submit your application
Disclosure and Barring Service
If you are not on the DBS update service, you will need to produce a new DBS certificate before we can consider an application to renew your licence.
Completing your driver’s licence renewal form
When you complete the online application form you need to:
- Upload a copy of your British passport or provide a UKVI share code to prove that you have the right to work in the UK. More information on the right to work in the UK
- Provide a tax check code share code to verify that you are registered with HMRC. Information about HMRC requirements for drivers
- Provide a DVLA share code
- Provide your DBS Certificate number if you are on the update service, or upload a new DBS certificate
- If your renewal letter says one is due, you need to upload a completed Group 2 Medical
- Upload a completed Operator form
- Upload a recent passport style photograph
- Pay the fee
