Transitional relief is designed to reduce the impact of any significant changes in rates liability, whether the change is up or down.
If you are eligible for transitional relief it will be automatically awarded when your bill is calculated.
Transitional adjustment limits the percentage your business rates bill can be increased or decreased each year following revaluation.
The transitional adjustment will apply each year until your bill reaches what your full bill would have been in 2017.
The full 2017 bill is calculated by multiplying the rateable value by the multiplier.
- Small property: property with a 2017 rateable value below £20,000.00.
- Medium property: property with a 2017 rateable value above £20,000.00 (£28,000.00 in London).
- Large property: property with a 2017 rateable value above £100,000.00.
