All of the facilities in the cemetery are managed and maintained by Blackburn with Darwen Council including:
- burials (all denominations provided for);
- all grass and shrub areas;
- flower and hard surfaces.
The Council is also responsible for both the physical and legal aspects of the burial procedure, including:
- grave digging;
- grounds maintenance;
- keeping of the burial registers.
Darwen old cemetery has reached its capacity only pre-purchased graves can now be used.
New graves
New graves are available for purchase at:
- Pleasington cemetery
- Darwen and Old Eastern cemetery
Burials can be arranged in Darwen old cemetery if you already own the burial rights for a family grave.

- April - October 8:00-22:00
- November - March 8:00-18:00
The office opening hours are 8.00am – 4.00pm, please note the office is currently closed due to COVID-19. The book of remembrance room is also currently closed due to COVID-19.
Location
Darwen old and eastern cemetery are on either side of the main road coming out of Darwen on the A666.
1 mile from Darwen town centre, on the A666 heading towards Bolton.
