Electric Vehicle consultation

We want your views on electric vehicles (EV) and EV charging points in Blackburn with Darwen.

The Government has asked us to install charging points for electric vehicles, in areas where residents don’t have their own off-street parking, like a driveway or garage. We need to find the best locations for these charge points to meet the needs of existing and future electric vehicle drivers.

Our short survey asks for your views on electric vehicles and where you would expect to find charging points.

You don’t need to be driving an electric vehicle right now to take part in the survey.

Your response will be used to help us find the best locations for charging points in Blackburn with Darwen.

An undergraduate student from Lancaster University is helping us with this survey. They will analyse your responses on our behalf.

Fill in the electric vehicle survey

The deadline for completing the survey is 5pm Tuesday 31 October 2023.

Focus Groups

We want to delve deeper into this issue by talking directly to residents in Focus Groups.

A Focus Group is a small number of people, usually 6 to 8, who talk through the issues with a facilitator to give their views and come up with ideas and solutions.

The findings will be added to the survey responses to help us find the right locations for new EV charge points.

There will be three Focus Groups:

  • Wednesday 27 September 2023 between 6pm and 8pm at the Meeting Room, Boulevard Centre, Railway Road, Blackburn BB1 1EZ
  • Thursday 28 September 2023 between 4pm and 6pm at the Library, The Barlow, 216 Bolton Road, Turton, Bolton BL7 0AP
  • Thursday 28 September 2023 between 7pm and 9pm at the Meeting Room, Astley Bank Hotel, Bolton Rd, Darwen BB3 2QB

If you would like to join one of the Focus Groups, please email climatechange@blackburn.gov.uk and give us your:

  • name
  • address
  • gender
  • age

And tell us:

  • whether or not you currently use an electric vehicle
  • which Focus Group you would like to join

We ask these questions upfront to make sure we have a mix of potential viewpoints in the room.

Otherwise, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The maximum number people at each session will be eight. Your personal data will be deleted within one month of the date of the Focus Group.

There will be tea, coffee and biscuits at each meeting, and you will be offered a £25 e-shopping voucher for your time.
