Information relating to the Multi-Agency Risk Reduction Assessment Co-ordination model.

The new MARRAC (Multi-Agency Risk Reduction Assessment Co-ordination) model is our response to high risk domestic abuse in Blackburn with Darwen, occurring on a daily basis. It's purpose is to:

  • listen to you
  • ask you and understand what you need
  • help support you to stay safe from being at risk of experiencing, causing or witnessing serious harm or death from domestic abuse

MARRAC is a core team of 6 Safeguarding partners; an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA), Health, Children's Social Care, Adults Social Care, Police and the Probation Service. The team will also build on existing partner relationships specific to Blackburn with Darwen.

The MARRAC model centres around a whole family approach in order to assess high risk domestic abuse cases and co-ordinate action plans to reduce the risks of serious harm. Each case is dealt with differently, dependant on the individual needs of a person, known as ME's (Children, Victim and Perpetrator).
