These days, more of us are eating meals away from the home.
We think that there should be healthy options available for you, if you are concerned about how much salt, sugar and fat you eat.
Eating too much of these things can contribute to you becoming overweight. It can also increase the risk of illnesses like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers.
Too much of these things can even reduce your overall life expectancy.
Recipe 4 Health Awards
To help you to find healthier options across Blackburn with Darwen, we have introduced the Recipe 4 Health awards.
The aim is to make it easier for you to find and eat healthier foods.
We are also working with businesses to give free help and advice about healthy options and allergy labelling.
The Recipe 4 Health Award looks at:
- cleanliness and fairness - making sure food is accurately described and safe to eat
- allergen awareness
- alcohol awareness
- healthy eating
- environmental focus - reducing food miles and getting rid of waste responsibly
