Practical driving test

Driver training/knowledge test
Driver training normally takes place on the last Tuesday of each month. The sessions are run at the Central Library and take around 3 hours.
The test is a written one, so you will need a good standard of English to be successful. You will also need a good knowledge of Blackburn and Darwen to be able to pass the section on locations.
Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the guidance document before you book onto a session.
To book a place on the training you will need to have a personal account on the Council’s Digital Customer Portal. Any requests for driver training or re-sits submitted using another person’s Blackburn with Darwen account will not be processed and any fees paid will not be refunded.
You should complete the online form using the link we will provide when you request a DBS registration. Further information regarding fees can be found on the services fee webpage. If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, or fail to attend, you will not be eligible for a refund.

Knowledge retest
If you fail the knowledge test we will notify you by email and provide you with a link to use to book a re-sit.
We would strongly recommend you revisit the guidance document prior to taking the retest.
Re-sits are held at 1pm at The Bungalow, Davyfield Rd on the following dates:

Applicants who fail the test on 3 successive attempts will have to wait at least 12 months before a new application will be considered. Applications made before 12 months will be rejected.
